Toede Williams

Pupil, Liberia

Toede started at Bridge Liberia Little Wlebo in 2016, after moving from a school nearby in Harper, Maryland County. She says the teacher there was, “not so good.”

In comparison, Toede says the she has a really good teacher now, and enjoys the lessons. “The teachers read and I can understand,” she explains. Toede particularly likes the use of technology in lessons, adding: “The teachers ask us questions and I know the answers!”

Her passion is for Science, taught by her favourite teacher Jeffer Marraien. “Science is the best,” she says: “because science teaches me about the stomach and how the stomach works. I can learn about how things move and live!”

She is hoping to turn this new knowledge into a career, aiming to become a doctor. “When someone is sick I want to make them better. I want to be a special doctor for pregnant women,” Toede explains. She discloses some personal stories that make her even more determined to achieve this dream. “My friend has epilepsy and I want to help her,” she says: “My aunt has nine children all with epilepsy.”

Aside from Science, Toede says she is working extra hard at English because she knows that “this will help me be a good doctor.” She’s happy to be at Bridge, she concludes: “It’s better for me to learn.”
