Emmanuel Olugbuyi

Meet Emmanuel Olugbuyi, an 11-year-old pupil at Bridge, Saigu Okoya. He lives nearby his school in a neighbourhood called Abora.

Emmanuel likes where he lives because he says there is “no corruption” in his neighbourhood. However, he says that the “scarcity of water” is a massive problem in his community, and would like to see some big changes. When he’s at home, Emmanuel helps his mother out by doing household chores. During his free time though, he’s a real bookworm and likes to read as many books as he can.

This love of books helps to make Emmanuel a role-model pupil. Everyone is very impressed by his dedication to learning. His favourite teacher, Teacher Moses, is “very kind,” says Emmanuel, and encourages him to keep asking questions.
